ABOUT US
Player development comes first. With small rosters, high-level coaching, and a focus on skill growth, we create opportunities for athletes to improve, compete, and love the game.
Program Mission
Our mission is to prioritize player development over everything else. While winning is important, our main focus is on making sure athletes improve and continue to love the game. We believe that growth comes through meaningful playing time, skill-building, and learning how to compete at a high level. That’s why we keep our rosters small—never more than eight players per team (9 for travel teams)—so that every athlete gets the opportunity to develop on the court, rather than sitting on the bench. Our program is built on the idea that young athletes need the right combination of structured training, game experience, and coaching that emphasizes both fundamentals and confidence.
Program History
The program started in 2022 with just one 17U team, built on the foundation of skill development and player-first coaching. By 2023, Kansas Select had expanded to six teams, and in 2024, the program grew to 10 teams with eight coaches and 80 players. We operate in the spring and summer, providing athletes with a structured, high-level training and competition experience. As we continue to grow, our commitment remains the same—helping players improve, compete, and enjoy the game of basketball.
Program Structure
Our program structure is designed to give players consistent training and competitive experience while maintaining a strong focus on skill development. Each team consists of only eight players, ensuring everyone gets plenty of playing time and individual coaching. Teams practice twice a week, with an optional skills practice for those looking for extra development. Throughout the spring and summer, teams compete in 8-9 tournaments, providing valuable in-game experience. Players in 8th grade through high school take June off to allow for school basketball commitments, while 7th grade and younger continue playing through June.
